PostHeaderIcon Great Yoga Accessories: Cool Yoga Socks

One of the things I always find comes up for me when I am learning a new pose in yoga is that my ability to find the pose is just as hard as staying in it. I don’t just mean the stretch, although since I do have a tendency to go hot and cold on my yoga practice, I have times when I have been away for a week or two and need to get myself back into a nice long stretch again.

No – I mean that when I decide I need to add a post to my routine, maybe because it will strengthen some part of my body that needs strength. Usually if that is the case, I find that getting to the pose and then relaxing in it is easier if I can just relax and center myself mentally in that pose. And to do that, sometimes it helps if my feet feel like they are completely in touch with my mat on all points. That is where yoga socks can really help.

A Yoga Accessory to Help with Connection

We all know that part of doing yoga is to feel connected right through your body to the earth. It is part of our visualization process and sometimes we are more successful at it than others. One simple yoga accessory that can help with this are little socks made for helping you stick called YogaSocks or ToeSocks, depending on who makes them. Some people really prefer them to a mat. I sometimes use them in addition to my mat for poses that require more balance. Gaiam of course makes several types and you can find Gaim Yoga Socks quite easily by following the link provided. I do like that they offer a variety of styles, some open toed and some closed, some with full toe grip and some with just the palm of the foot gripped. These guys do certainly know their yoga accessories.

Of course, some people swear by yoga socks and others hate them. It is pretty much a personal call for most of us, and unfortunately the best way to find out is to try them. If you are just starting out and want to try some out for a bit less money, try checking the discount page for some options at a reduced price. Best to be sure you like them before spending tons of money on them!

Keep That Pose

So don’t let the difficulty of a new pose stop you from adding it to your routine. Sometimes a little help from a yoga accessory such as a strap or a pair of yoga socks can make all the difference when trying something new. There is no shame in needing help – and lots to gain my persevering and getting that pose right!
